I took my truck into the shop for a vibration and they found the left axle bearings were shot. So they replaced left and rights and also found the pinion bearings were worn poorly so they replaced them too. They are waiting for 2 seals that should be there in the am and I should have my truck back after lunch. This really bums me out to have this happen at 10,700 miles. Anyone else have this failure? I'll keep you guys posted. Eric

Well, I'd rather have it happen at 10K than at 110K - no warranty then.
Still sucks though.

I was told by the tech that they had a bad run of bearings. I don't know how much truth there is to his statement but, he would have no reason to make things up. When we went for a test drive he knew right away what it was from the leaving the write up area before we left the parking lot. He was right. To diagnose it he put it on the hoist and spun the wheels in 4wd. Eric

Some techs seem to make stuff up quite a bit in my experience, if they don't know they will try to BS you. I have learned more from this site and other GM web forums with other owners than any tech at a dealer service dept has ever been able to teach me.
techs are no different than anyone else...lol...

Does the '08 have the same "pinched" axle vent tube problem as my '07.5s? A blocked vent can cause fluid loss through one or more seals, resulting in damaged bearings from lack of sufficient lube.
