: New problem with 6-gun

Just to inform other 6-gun owners. My problem is very strong surging at idle while in gear. This happens at any setting and also stock setting will not stop it unless it has only been driven in stock mode. Placing it in park stops it every time. There is a very strong diesel fuel smell which comes into the cab when this is happening. It looks as though idle is getting way too much fuel. Contacted Banks, they said they have had a few reports of this already and were documenting them. He had me disconnect the speed loader and see if it still did it, it does. They said not to worry, that R&D will correct it with more testing and they will send new parts if necessary. He really was interested what run my LLY was. I told him it was one of the first build.

If any others have this same problem, Please contact Banks so that they can record it so they know how frequent this is happening.

No problems at all with the truck, before or after.

I have a 04.5 LLY completely stock still at the moment and mine also does the same thing, so its definately not a problem with your banks system. My cousin has same truck as mine with the banks big hoss system on it at his does the same thing also.

Get the reflash done it will cure your problems. I had the problem - reflashed it and all is fine now.

Welcome oneldh.

How's the big hoss working out, get him on here for a report.

I just got the reflash for the idle surge and it's been fine for 3 days.

I had reflash done at an oil change even though I had no problems. I still had no surging until the banks install. I don't know if a new reflash will do anything.

I will call them on monday as well. I do not have a reflash for my truck yet it is to new. But i am now having the same problem as you guys have been talking about after i had the banks for a few weeks. I thought it was just me but as i have read what you guys have said i new that it was not just my nose.

the reflash cured my surging, but my exhaust is what caused the strong fuel smell. messed with egr, etc.. installed stock pipes and runs great.

Do the 05's come with the reflash already in them? My brand new 05 surges just as bad as my 04 did at low speeds.

I can live with the surging if it is only caused by the banks, but I will not live with the extremely strong fuel smell.

The surging definately isnt caused by the banks because 04.5 LLY does it also and mine is 100% stock. (For now)

It sounds like the six gun is just amplifying whatever the PCM is doing. That is its job, isn't it? So it doesn't really go away when the banks is removed. Its just less annoying. I'd check on the reflash.

Just got the latest re-flash today. So far no surging or excessive fuel smell. I could'nt get it to do it at all idleing in reverse which seemed to be the worst symptoms. I am happy!:)
