Who in here can tell me how the Hypertech programmer makes its power? What parameters are changed in the PCM? Is it a fuel pressure change only or a timing and injector pulse width change as well? Thanks

Not sure, but have you checked their web site? I have been using it for about a year now. No problems/codes!!!

It was rumored to be psi based, but some have disputed that. I have one here, and tried to load it on my 2005, but the calibration for my truck was not available:mad: Waiting for another to arrive. Clearly labeled 2001-2005 trucks on the pkg...

Know what you mean. My Hypertech came with the new Pt# for the LLY, but would not load the new program. Good news was that Hypertech was helpful and provided fast service. Had to ship mine back with the VIN, and they updated the program. Once I got it back all was fine.

I asked the tech guys and they said it was a proprietary thing and they wouldn't share the info on how they do the programming. Go figure. I am probably going to go with it, I was just kinda curious.

Why not go with the tried tested and true predator?

More options then the hypertech
Always proves to have better tuning then hypertech (my opinion shared by lots here too)
Scan tool functions
Probably cheaper or similar in price.

I would either run the predator or the bully dog pup. I think you would be happy with either of them. Predator has diagnostic features as an added bonus. Good luck

My thoughts exactly. Price seems to be the single motivating factor for purchasing the Hypertech. Predator is light years ahead though in function, performance, and flexibility.

Being a user of both the Hypertech and the Predator, I would definitely vote Predator at this point.

My buddie runs a Hypertech on his Duramax and when he rode with me (Predator on 65) he said that it pulled harder than his Hypertech on 90HP. Maybe there is a difference in where they measure the HP for each controler? What do you think?

I have been told by several vendors that the hypertech has been designed to be almost foolproof and because of that the tuning is very conservative.

It looks like JK is going to put it on the 'Lie Detector' when he gets a programmer that works. That would answer a few questions.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge, JK!

Hmmm... conflicts of interest here?-:tEasy. You don't know what you are talking about. There is NO conflict of intrest here. I can actually buy Hypertech through one of my suppliers but none of my suppliers sell Predator. I purchased my predator retail. Please be informed before you post. I am not here to lead people in the wrong direction. :cookoo:
