How often should we drain the fuel filter for water? I've had my LLY 1 month, and tried to drain the filter this AM. Turned the drain about 3 full turns, and nothing would come out. I was afraid the drain would completly unscrew. I've read on this forum that most have never found moisture in the filter. Should I just wait for the DIC to notify me of water? Thanks for any info.

Run a good additive as well. Then you don't need to worry.

For the filter to drain you also have to loosen the black plastic bleeder screw on top of the filter. Also be carefull to not overtighten it ... they can break.. Greg (www.lubespecialist.com (http://www.lubespecialist.com)) sells a nice stainless bleeder screw. He also has a slick version with a drain hose.

I've been driving diesels for about 20 years and I've never found more than a drop of water in any fuel filter... Just lucky I guess.. :)

Thanks guy's! I think I'm getting good fuel (I buy at busy fuel stops) and I'm using Stanadyne. This forum is great!!!
