Ok I though that sounded normal till I noticed it was rattling with the clutch pedal out.

SBC are normally noisy when the pedal is pushed in.

That sounds like trans rattle to me after listening a couple times.

Check you fluild level.

Did they check the input shaft bearing while they had it apart.

Sounds like a bad throwout bearing.

Throw bearing would make noise when pushing in the pedal.;)

The guy told me that the input shaft was worn a bit but it looked fine i after i shot the vid i went back out there and the that rattling goes away with any rpm off of idle like just 100 or so and it stops

I just put a South Bend in mine and mine sounds the same way. Gear rattle at idle with the clutch out. Push the clutch in or anything over idle and the rattle goes away.

I get a bit of the same thing.

Sometimes its worse than others but I dont think its quite that bad. I dont really see a probelm as long as it drives fine.

Dual or single dics? The dual disc has a 1/2" plate of steel that is rattling around at idle between the clutch discs.......could be that too.

that's normal, it's just the vibration from having a solid flywheel, that sound would normally be there w/ the stock clutch but the dual mass flywheel dampens the vibration.

This is normal noise with the DD, for a single it is a little louder than normal. On a DD the floater plate rattles between the dual discs. It was hard to tell from the vid but do you notice any extreme tranny vibration at idle? If so it could be slightly out of balance, however this would be very rare as most are very well balanced. Also as 1low said, keep in mind the diesel spike is no longer dampened by SMF as it is with the factory DMF.

I've had the SBC and the Mac's in my truck in my truck and thats what they do at an idle. You can bump the idle rpm's up and quiet it down or install a fluiddamper or both.

Wow, that seems loud. I never thought SB clutches were that noisy. If your fine with that then who cares? I should post a vid of my truck at idle so you can hear what my clutch sounds like, but I honestly dont think you can even hear it. I have a buddy with a Cummins and a SBC twin disc ceramic clutch and his is no where near that loud either?

Might check with Peter a SBC and make sure they sent you the right flywheel. They changed the flywheel balancing for the 2006 and new duramaxes and if you have a newer flywheel by accident you would have a severe vibration issue. Just something to check. Happened to me, thats how I know.

sounds the opp. of mine. mine is quiet with the clutch out but as soon as you put pressure on it.... it starts sounding like metal scrapping against each other
