I kept getting the WIF warning, regardless of where I purchased fuel. I was getting EXTREMELY frustrated. I finally discovered that warning ONLY came on AFTER I put Power Service fuel treatment in the tank. The stuff in the silver bottle is the culprit. If I drained the filter... I saw no water and still the light/warning stayed on. If I let the tank get to 1/2 and refilled with new diesel, the light/warnng went off and did not come back on. I quit using that stuff and voila'... no more warning lights no matter where I buy fuel. OK, so Power Service sucks and is out... any recommendations?

I'm currently using PS and haven't had any problems. Although I am switching to Stanadyne because I had to order it. I didn't have any water or icing problems with PS when it was 20 below. Maybe the problem was from your fuel source?

No problems with PS in nearly 70k miles. I do try to always purchase diesel at high volume truck stops, though.

I did have a WIF alert and had no water in the filter and no additives. I did end up pulling the the float and there was a tiny piece of crapola keeping the float up just enough to light up. I know its not the same problem as listed, but if someone has the prob I did I hope this might help.

I used PS grey bottle for over 10,000 miles with no problems. Just switched to Opti-lube XPD.

I just proved to myself that Stanadyne cost me 1+ mpg both towing and empty. Of course if it saves the fuel from freezing it's worth it.

I'm trying OptiLube next.

My brother-in-law is a truck driver, and was visiting my house this past weekend while I was out of town. He saw my new case of Stanadyne and mentioned to my GF he didn't like it. She said he had a suggestion but she can't remember what it was... so we'll call him tonight and I'll post it.

I used PS for approx 5000 miles with no problems, but will be switching to Stanadyne at next fill up. Seems to be a more popular product amongst DP users and scored better on the fuel additive study floating around on this site.

Current mileage = 10600

I have never had a problem with water in the fuel or icing in my fuel filter. I have always used 4POWER one pint every 4000 miles. It removes the water from the fuel tank by separating the oxygen from the hydrogen (H2O) and leaving the hydrogen in the fuel to be burnt during combustion. The 4POWER is a aggressive injector cleaner also. Then I add Diesel Plus every tank full to lubricate the fuel system and increase mileage.
