:)When I took them off, (oil And tranny ) I thought I was going to have to blast them off. I put them back on as tight as I could get them with my hand. If they put them on that tite I didnt see any harm in me doing it.GOOD LUCK.:)

Actually there is no need to even tighten them as tight as you can get it with your hands. You will need two men and a small child to get it back off.

I always go 1/2 turn from hand snug or about 3/4 turn from gasket contact. I think the filter can says 1 turn after gasket contact.
Having said that, I always tell myself not to put it on so tight when it's time to take it off. I should learn to listen better...:D

Any spin on filter I go tight with one hand, that way I can usually break torque with both hands, this way my giant channel locks get to stay in the tool box.

X2. Just be sure to put a thin film of tranny fluid on the gasket first...just like an oil filter. You should be fine.

I was once told "twist it off, then turn it back a 1/4 turn". :D

x3 on the thin film of fluid on the filter gasket. And, changing the filter when the truck is cold makes it easier too. Nothing hot...
