: 285 __ 17 E Load Range?
tunaboyyy 03-18-2008, 01:39 AM Just looking for comments on any 285 17 inch load range E tire out there (all terrain of course). I have the Cognito kit with the bil. shocks. I am thinking of going with Moto Metal or KMC black/chrome wheels? Thanks all.
DunesRunner08 03-18-2008, 01:40 AM bfg a/t is good and so it the toyo a/t.
LA DMAX 03-18-2008, 01:52 AM Hey tuna, I looked at the BFG's in that size and they are only D load range. The Nitto Dura Grappler and I think the Terra Grappler are load range E in that size. The Dura Grapplers for sure, I was looking into those tires. They may not be as aggressive as the BFG ATKO though. Hope it helps.

DunesRunner08 03-18-2008, 01:55 AM the toyo is a 295, my bad. the bfg is available in both d and e, and the terra grappler is a great tire, haven't done anything with the dura grappler though
LA DMAX 03-18-2008, 02:12 AM Dunes, are you sure about the BFG ATKO's? I was looking at the 285 70 17. When I talked to BFG at the Offroad expo they said they didn't have that size in an E load range but they did have the 265 70 17(I think it's a 70 series) and the 305 65 17 in an E load range. I told the guy that alot of people (me) were towing heavy loads but wanted that size because it was a happy medium between really big and stock tires. He said he was glad to hear that information and thats part of why they come out to shows. Heck, maybe they actually listened to what customers were saying, what a novel idea isn't it?

DunesRunner08 03-18-2008, 02:18 AM When i used to work at the offroad shop, i remember selling them. I just looked on their website, its a 16 not a 17. ah well. Looks like nitto is the route to go or the toyo
Duratime 03-18-2008, 10:35 AM The 285 D rated BFG has the same max load rating as the factory 265/70/17E tires at 3195 per tire except it is at 65psi vrs 80psi for the stockers.
MankesMax 03-19-2008, 11:59 AM I have the 285/70/17 E rated Toyo A/T's. They are a great tire. Have had no problems. Tow 10-12k on a monthly basis, they are as quiet as stock. 12k miles on them so far and great tread wear. I have never heard anything bad about Toyo's, but I have on Nitto's....just my $.02.
DunesRunner08 03-19-2008, 12:07 PM I have heard both sides of both nitto and toyo and its funny considering they are the same company.
70 gsconvt 03-19-2008, 01:13 PM I just put the Toyo A/T's on and love them. Pretty quiet on the road under 75 mph.
And they look great on the truck.
DunesRunner08 03-19-2008, 01:14 PM I just got rid of Toyo M/T's because I hated them.

He's looking at getting A/T's.
TheBac 03-19-2008, 08:16 PM Hankook DynaPro ATM RF10's come in E rated in 285/70/17. They are rated 126/123 -- 10 ply. I am buying a set this Saturday. Aggressive A/T tread. Cant beat the price, either.
LA DMAX 03-19-2008, 11:04 PM Dunes, I heard the same thing that Toyo and Nitto were essentially the same company or at least the tires are made in the same place. Funny. I've read a couple reports about the Nitto duragrapplers in Diesel world(I think) and in another offroad magazine and both times were given good marks. Does anyone have experience with them or heard anything bad about that tire?

TheBac 03-20-2008, 06:25 AM I thought the A/T tires from both those companies kind of looked the same. Interesting info.
