Anyone have a recommendation for a transmission? Either Factory Tech Monster Box or Suncoast or something else? Thanks

For a 4R100 or an A4OD.
BTS Transmissions or DTT

oops
lol
Typo
BTS is brianstransmissions.... the ford guys at the dieselstop know them well. IIRC DTT has some good mods for them too.

I would call both of them.

There ain't nothing like Brian's Tranny Shop in Leadhill Ark. He has a very well earned reputation. I don't think you'll regret doing business with him!

i have replaced many ford transmissions (mainly e4od) and i have gotten plenty of excuses from transmission builders why these fail so frequently. but the one that makes the most sense to me is that the e4od's case is weak and under stress and heat the case can flex and the valve body warps.to correct this my shop has done a few things to help prevent this from happening

first install the biggest trans cooler you can find. second when you have the trans mission shop rebuild your old one have them bump up the fluid line pressure(5-10psi) third installan after market tanny pan bully dog makes one that is deeper and ten times thicker than stock this should stiffen up the case finally i have used a trans additive made by a company called LYNCH PRODUCTS i feel that this is the best

The reason I am thinking of a new trans is that while plowing the last storm I lost 3 quarts of fluid through the front seal. Enough so that it stalled the motor while in reverse. The next day I added fluid and got it to my friend's shop. They had it for three days and could not get to leak again. I got it back and drove it 150 miles no leaks, no problems shifting. Is this strange or what?

thats definitely a weird one. ive never even heard of anything like that although plowing is very hard on automatic transmission. for some reason the drainback passage must have gotten blocked not allowing the excess fluid from the torque converter to drain back and push through the seal instead that would be my guess. if you decide to rebuild i would install those upgrades i mentioned earlier. it will probably be a lot cheaper and still last just as long as a after market trans
