New to this forum, refered to by another. OK I'm waiting on my 05 GM 2500HD w/ duramax and allison. I am wanting to lift it with CST 9to 11" with 37" tires.
I am very confused on what I need to do to take care of my tranny and such. I want to add performance but have heard so much about so many options.
what I basically want is to calibrate eveything for the larger tires and maybe some added power too.
Do I change gears right away?
Do I reprogram? will this require trans upgrades?
Do I need a locker? one person said 456 gears and a locker is all I need?
What would you guys do if it were your project? only a couple grand at most to spare. thanks.CB

Gears would be a good choice on that big of tire. Also a Predator to change the calibrations for the gears and tires. That will get your speedo back in check and add some power. Not much choices on good aftermarket lockers that I know of at this time for the 11.5" axle but others may know of one

My tires measure out to almost 37" and I'm going with a set of 4.56's

You can use the one that is in your truck already and save money.. A trip across state and you can get it all installed too!

No one makes a true locker for our trucks yet. Tractech is working on a full Detriot No-Spin,but it won't be available until the middle of this year at the earliest. Another option we've talked about is using the Dodge 3/4-1 ton rear limited slip, same axle, just have to check the spline count and some other small details.IMO the stock GM G80(Gov-Lok) option is a waste of money, broke mine in less than 10,000 miles. Granted I beat on the truck pretty good ot still shouldn't have failed that soon.As for the gear,I would do it as soon as you can afford it. A gear swap made a huge difference, performance and mileage wise to my truck.
