I am going to get a lift for my 3500, hopefully within the next week or so. What brand should I get? I don't need anything too extreme, it's more for the look than anything. I was thinking RCD or Procomp? Your input will be appreciated!!

Cognito or CST best lift on the market in my opinion.

MAX4X4

Cognito 4-6
Cognito 7-9
Cognito 10-12

Nick @ www.norcaltruck.com can help you out. He is a vendor here and will give you a deal........he also sells other brands as well. Do your homework and read ALOT on all the different kits.

Have you seen Rize Industries new kit? its pretty sick. Looks wise no one can top it. I haven't driven one yet, but I know a few guys running the kits on the fords and dodges and they love them.

RCD or Cognito. I have some of both under my truck. The advantage of Cognito is the UCA's and idler/pitman braces. The advantage of RCD is the Bilstien shocks. If you get the RCD make sure you buy some Cognito idler/pitman braces. Good luck!

IF YOUR SET ON RCD or Procomp. Id go RCD they make a good kit. If you dont mind paying extra Id go with the cognito 7-9" kit and set it at a soft seven with the steering upgrades you wont regret it.

I'm still going to stand by the Rize Industries. Just looking at their kit, I don't think you can get better quality than that. Plus, you get what you pay for, they are the more expensive lift out there.

Tuff country or Cognito

03-17-2008, 10:41 PM
Cognito, for sure. You're right, you pay for what you get. I'd rather save up and pay for for something I know I'll be happy with. At the end of the day, that's what's going to matter. Go to their website, read about their design.

Call Jon at Rize industries and check out there kit. I'm serious. Everyone is all " CST or Cognito" They love them because they've been around forever. Their kits are good, but not the best. The RIZE kit is the best, but you get what you pay for. No one out there has the quality of what the RIZE kit is.

The Rize lift is for posers you pay for them to cut out all the gay designs into the crossmembers and subframe then you can put 40's on 24" rims on your two wheel drive truck

it's ok, I value each of your opinions equally. : ) That's funny though you guys ragging on each others lift.......Like I mentioned, I want a nice ride and quality and as with most people, budget is a factor, so it doesn't need to be anything too extreme. I appreciate the Help!

Posers? how do you pose with a lifted truck? Just curious. I know you pose being a hetro. But enough with that. They laser cut all the parts and they are assembled to make a great looking and extremly strong, functional kit. And if you knew what you were talking about the biggest tire for a 24 is a 37. You mention tuff country which will fall apart sqeak creak rust and ultimately put you back in the shop to put a real kit on. Buy a book, study a little, and think before you open your mouth. Know what you are talking about before you give advice.

Anyway, if you don't want to go to extreme and want a good price nice riding kit, then Im going against everyone here and telling you to buy the RCD kit. For the money you spend, you can't really get much better. Spindle kits are more reliable and put less stress on your factory components and the build quality is good. Plus it comes with the 5100 series Bilstein shocks. It'll be a nice riding kit for not a lot of money

Come on really

Is this Jon's helper at RIZE. The one that sits under the key board???

I'm sorry but I just read this thread and laughed my head off .....

When RIZE releases then we can talk about how bad ass it is:) I think it will make many people happy.

No but all joking a side I don't don't know this guy but he is right about spindle kits being a stronger way to lift a IFS.

There are many options out there and what it really comes down to is Spindle or non- Spindle. Then what company offers the right options that are for you, your needs and budget. If you are going to have a shop do your install then read a ton and ask a ton of questions on here and learn. Then walk into as many shops as you have close to you. Then when you are about to pull your hear out you need to pick the right "one". Just go with what most people are saying that fits your budget.

Cognito makes a ton of upgrades so I lean on that kit because I can custom tailer it for each customer.

But what do I know .....:D

P.S.

The 12" kit is going to start shipping in about a couple weeks from now. Yes it is bad ass but I would like to see a complete list of upgrades. I have ran there kit on MY Ford link:http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/garage.php?do=view&g=13025 and it was over the top and I loved it. I am very knowledgeable of there product and I know when they have the options of upgrades complete they are going to be selling lot hot cakes. But we have some time till then :(.

Not trying to offend anyone by IMHO that Rize kit for the Chevy is ugly. It looks like it is built well but it seems to defeat the purpose of a lift which is supposed to be to add clearance. Most IFS kits drop something down but those drop down brackets are crazy. Just because it cost more doesn't mean it is better. Just my 2 cents.

Oh Even better 37's on a 24" rim that will do real well at the mall parking lot.

You obviously have no Idea what you are talking about I am not the only idiot to buy the POS tuff Country lift and be happy with it. It is also a spindle lift but you obviously wouldn't be aware of that

You are Fing New Guy who is a Censored talker. Try earning the respect of other board members instead of bad mouthing products which you have no experience with. Do you have a Rize lift on your truck and have you beaten it the way these other kits have been including the POS Tuff Country?

Would you like to ride in my truck because my truck does not squeak has no rust and has not fallen apart and my truck has actually used four wheel drive including boosted launches. The Tuff Country kit is fully powdercoated

I am sure the Rize kit is a good kit but so is the Tuff Country and Cognito Kits and you are talking straight out of your @$$

I like the RCD, I've never had anything else. I think the RCD lift with the Cognito steering upgrades are the way to go FOR THE MONEY.

I use my truck fairly hard from off roading to pulling my 5'er, I accidently jumped it through an intersection last week:D

The point is I have not had one thing fail suspension wise and I make my truck earn its pay.

P.S. I'm in Mesa if you would like to test drive it before you make a decision. It's an 06 LBZ though, not sure what the suspension differences are between your LMM and the LBZ

I've been dealing with lift kits for over 8 years now. Tough country is one of the few kits that everytime I've put one on a customers truck, I have had to take it off to replace with an RCD, a Fabtech, or someone else's lift. Its a cheap lift built cheaply. As for me using profanities, my apologize to anyone I offended. I have been in trucks with the Rize Kits on them in the Dunes at Glamis and jumping the trucks without so much as a popping sound a squeak or anything. You can tow the full capability of your truck with a Rize Kit, when if you call tough country, they'll tell you they don't advice heavy towing. And the list goes on. Maybe you should learn the fact and come to a battle of the wits armed.

So How much to replace my Tuff country with a RIZE kit:D

I also think it is stupid to jump a $40,000- $50,000 7000lb truck with any of these lift kits. I guess as long as I don't jump my truck I should be okay

I agree with you on the stupid part when it comes to jumping. These aren't trophy trucks:D

It's kinda why I think the dual fox's, etc are overkill. I don't notice a difference between the way mine rides and my buddies who have all those goodies?

Don't get me wrong, I think they look bad f'ing ass and if they weren't so much more expensive I would have them.

I have heard nothing but praise about the Tuff country lifts lately. Maybe back in the day they weren't so good but now they are great kits.

My choices would be either Cognito or Tuff Country. Only reason I'd go with the Cognito over the TC is it has the non-torsion bar drop and it's adjustable from 4-6"
