OK, I bit the bullet and have the Predator, pillar gauges (exhaust temp and boost) and a ss MBRP 4" exhaust. I installed the temp probe with the hoot method in the right hand exhaust. What should I be looking for in temps before I get in turbo trouble?

My gauges were just installed this week so I am curious what kind of temps to be looking for too. My EGTs are below. My intake and exhaust are stock. Not sure if it matters or not, but I have the winter covers on, reside at 4700 feet, and run 265x75 R16 tires.

Idle: 300-400* F
50 mph: 700* F
80 mph: 900*-1000* F
WOT (90+mph): 1200*-1300* F

I was surprised at how hot the temps were and will be curious to see what they do in the summer pulling a 8000# trailer.

Put an exhaust on and they should go down some.

1300 is plenty. That is still in the 'safe' range, as long as its not sustained for long periods. I have watched my Pyro bounce off the pin on the high side when chit canning it on a 'stoopid' box with my 5er on.... I know now why that pin is there.... keeps the gauge from doing circles..LOL

You should see 7-900 at unloaded highway speeds.

What motor do you have, and LB7 or LLY? Also, what setting are your running in your programmer? I live and work around the same elevation as you do, and my intake is stock, and so is the exhaust besides a free flowing muffler that I just added. Just curious. Thanks!

I live at close to 7000', and see temps slightly higher than yours with a 4" and pulling my 6 horse. Go to sea level and I am hard pressed to see 1100'. I am glad Eric thinks 1300 is max for sustained use - 1350 makes me back off.

Looks like 1350 is the magic number. Thanks

Tom, read Eric's post again. My personal substained limit is 1250 in the yellow on my gauge. Later! Frank

Frank - I start to back off before it hits 1300 - my warning is actually set at 1280, but things often get over that in a hurry. 1325 or 1350 for a few seconds doesn't worry me, especially if I see the end of the pull. If there is a long run still ahead, I back it down below 1280. For others drivers, 1280 is the limit - period.

J-HEFF,

I have the LLY. I have not yet flashed a predator tune. I am experiencing a rough idle when the truck is at 185*. Need to get that worked out first.

EGT Temps:
I pulled the winter cover off my grill today and took a short hiway trip. At 75 mph, level ground my EGT was 800* and boost was around 8lb. These seem to be inline with the above posts.
