I have the chocie between these two kits for my lb7

summit exhaust with 4 inch down pipe and 5 inch stright pipe aluminized system

or

manga flow 4 inch mandrel bent system stright pipe, stainless ,no muffler on either one.

would I see any better gains out of the summit kit because of the larger pipe after the down pipe? or would I be better with the magna flow.. going to be running the edge/attitude hot juice...

thank you..

I would think that it depends on wher you live, what kind of system to buy.

I live in the Northeast and a Stainless system is a must..........

Have you looked at a Banks or MBRP yet ???????

The Supporting Vendors also both sell a complete system or a CAT back as well.

Better save for a tranny..........and gauges next..........

If your expecting to gain performance, save your money.. Gains if there, will be very slight. You can use that money for a chip etc and get more then just noise.

There are many systems out there and like Eric said you will only see minimal gains. Start saving for transmission and other stuff and worry about exhaust later. You will need it for lower EGT's but at this time you will only get more sound. I would also look at Summit when the time comes to buy, nice system with minimal investment. Check around you will find what you are looking for when you really need it.

if you live in so cal, i would go w/ the mbrp 5" aluminized...i did the 4" and now wish i would have done the 5"...dmaxalliTech is right about the performance, but if your going to be towing, the drop in egt's will be helpful (especially w/ juice)...

Or you can do what I did . . . spent 17.95 & had the muffler shop cut out my muffler & replace it with a piece of pipe of the same diameter as the factory pipe. (I got a piece of factory tail pipe free from the shop - was off of a NEW d-max truck). Some else spent $$$ replaceing their factory system.

Cost me less than $20.00 for the pipe & 2 welds. dropped my EGT's by about 75 - 100 degF . . . plenty good for my Quadzilla at 110hp.

According to Kennedys dyno on his site, his 4-5" exhaust is good for a couple of horses and around 50lbft of torque.

Get a exhaust system and then the next day, buy the chip of your choice....then buy the next thing you want the next day. Oh ya, you need lots of money :D

50lbft sounds pretty optomistic and I couldnt see anything on John's site that showed any dyno info in exhaust? You got a link?

Banks claim +18hp and 30tq gains. Tests have shown there is no advantage to a 5" system over a 4", as far as performance goes.

lb7up - get the hot juice . in my opinion you cant beat the gauges the attitude offers .
my 2 cents .

I went with Edge/Juice first....then the Magnaflow 4" ss system. Nice product exact fit no fumbling.
However, seat of pants tells me that the truck had a little more oomph down low wuth the stock exhaust and Edge/Juice. No empirical data just a sense. Hope that helps.
