Rather than sorting through any other website and having to deal with the usual trolls I thought I could get a straight answer from one of the techs here.
We purchased an 08 HHR because of the rising fuel prices, while doing an oil change this weekend I noticed that the oil filter appeared to have been compressed. Is this a potential problem ? my understanding is that the pressure bypass is built into the cap, could this be an issue of the filter needing to bypass and the bypass spring being too tight ?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Sorry, daddy, I'm just up to the first oil change due on my HHR and I don't have a clue. I was hoping you'd get some info so I could poach it.

I was just looking at an HHR this weekend, the SS. How do you like them?

We bought the base model LS with the auto trans as the only option. The car has a lot of features for the money, decent power and 24 MPG combined on an engine with only 600 miles on it. I am a big guy and it was the easiest of all the small cars we looked at to get in and out of. The loudest stereo I have ever had in any of my many new Chevys. My wife drives it mostly but it is the car we use when we go anywhere long distance (other than vacations) We looked at a LOT of cars and I am glad we bought it, the only thing I would like on the car is a telescoping steering wheel.

I bought mine used with 28K on it last August. It was a Cali rental and is the 2.2 Ecotech with auto and an LT model. I drove it 3000 mile roundtrip to San Antonio and back last November and got over 30 mpg average for the trip. 4 door with plenty of room, a hatchback with split folding rear seats and a great little commuter ecobox to make my 85 mile roundtrip to work 4 days a week.

We have a "fleet" of 23 if you want to call it that. We started running them in 2006. They are all 2.2L autos and get serviced every 7500 miles. I haven't seen or heard of any compressed oil filters. We beat the hell out of them and usually get 425 - 450 miles to a tank. Had a lady a couple of months ago bust a transmission pan and drive it another 10 miles! It just got a new pan, topped it off, and it was back on the road.
I am a big guy too, I guess, (6'3" 265lbs) and the only problem I have with them is in the dash area and a lack of knee room. But, they are much better than the old Aleros and Grand Ams that we used to run.

Would one of the GM techs here look for a TSB on this issue ?
Thanks
