Hi every one , I have a 2000 chev 3500 dually, all dressed up, and the 6.5 died on me. I know someone that as a 6000mile 2002 6.6 with tranny pulled out of a wreck , My question is with work can I fit it in or not .
Thanks

Sure anything is possible, u will need some good fabrication skills and excellent know how, u will have to swap everything over, wire harness, pcm, fuel system, I dont know if the trans crossmemeber will swap but u could always modify it.

I think your biggest challenge would be fitting the Allison under the 2000 MY chassis with enough ground clearance. The 2001 and newer HD's had a new body pan design were lifted a bit (3" IIRC) to fit that big transmission in with adequate clearance. It certainly could be done with enough time, know-how and cash.

Good Luck!

Do a search for Duramax Suburban. There is somebody that does that conversion. Perhaps they would share info with you.

Isn't it just a 2-3" body lift? IIRC, thats all it is.

TomTom, not to nit-pick, but I did say it was 3" IIRC.

You could always modify the tranny hump by raising it like you do when you bodydrop a vehicle.

Would a 4L80 fit on a Duramax motor? If so you could just gat one beefed up to handle the power and there you go.
Also what model of GM truck is it that has the front end that looks like it has additional hight on the grill. I have seen some around here. They are the body style of the '98. I am not sure what it has for the motor. I have always wondered why they add that extra size grill on it.

The 3500HD's had the same body as the regular pick-ups, but had a beefier chassis, springs, etc... and they put a spacer under the grill because the body sat higher up on the frame.
