I was wondering if i had efi live would i be able to make the dash display my mpg? I have no steering wheel controls, the only things that show up on the dash is odom. trip and hours. A performance shop close to me told me you can do this with efi, but i just wanted to be sure you could, and i have also heard that i have to change the steering wheel, (not worth all that). Thanks guys for your input.

No, but you could use EFI to calculate your instant MPG though the scan tool functions, But you would have to roll around with your laptop in your truck..... Buy a small laptop and bolt it to the dash.

LOL well hell that just plain sucks, i figured it was software related to get it to show up on the dash.

probably is but you would need the proper cluster that has that capability and then you would have to get someone with a tech 2 to program it in to the body control module... EFI only tunes the ECM and the TCM.
I'm guessing it can be done though. just not through EFI Live
I know you can buy aftermarket clusters, My brother just bought one (Chevy350) he hasnt hooked it up yet but i dont know if that would solve your problem cause i'm sure it come with the full DIC funtions... but i donno. To bad almost the only way to figure out if it will work is to talk to the dealer unless someone else on here has done it. Maybe call up that place that sells the aftermarket clusters, I dont remember the name though, i'll find out and post it in here

Cool thank you very much..... i would think the programing is already there just need a new cluster. I cant imagine GM engineering something that would require the steering wheel controls..... but then again you have the ISS issue lol. Do you know if there are trucks out there that have MPG and such without the steering wheel controls?

My mpg reading on my dmax has never been accurate. when i bought the truck it had 72000 miles on it and my mpg's read 15.2. After driving it for a little I noticed the reading began to climb, so i decided to do the mpg calculation on my own, and it came up with 15.7, which was not totally accurate with my reading. Now my dash reading for my mpgs is 17.2, and i have installed a bd manifold, which caused my calculations to drop to 14.7, then my 4" exhaust brought it back to 16.7. My reading in the truck never changed from 17.2. I wuold not waste my money on getting the comp to read my mpgs, unless the efi live can be more accurate than the factory, it is very miss leading. it is to easy to check the mileage yourself, a calculator and division.

If you dont ahve the steering wheel controls theres no way to switch through the menues on the cluster, the cluster that tells you your MPG and has all the other bells and whistles needs the steering wheel controls.. and on the aftermarket cluster there are some differences in the menus, I know that on my brothers lly he cant turn his high idle on now which is kinda wierd, theres just no option for it, maybe the clusters are designed for the LB7?? i donno.
