I've read about the black and white front diff vent and/or breather, but I'm not sure what it is.

Is this the several-inch-diameter round plastic insert in the side of the diff case with a hose connected to the middle of it, that the service manual calls the "Front Differential Carrier Vent Hose Connector"?

If this is it, I got a white one from the factory. If this isn't it, where the heck is it?

For a bonus question: This hose coming from the Front Differential Carrier Vent Hose Connector seems to disappear into a wire bundle and never come out. Does it just dead-end in there?

If you trace the vent hose it ends up near the top (inside) of the wheel liner. There is also a vented cap on the end of the hose.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Geek.gifEdited by: jbplock

Yes, White is for synthetic, black is not...
