Hi Diesel people!

I´m a beginner with Chevrolet and Diesel, but love my new (Old) car..

Yesterday i changed Oil, filters, dieselfilter, aitfilter and a normal service.. When i looked in front of diesel pump i found a lose adjustable part..

What is this? I screwed it in place at the middle adjustable range, but i guess this is an important part of the diesel pump?

Any one who can explain what this is, and if a middle possition is a good idee.

Best regards

Rikard

Looks like the TPS, Throttle position switch. I think they only controlled the auto transmission lockup and some part of the emissions junk.

Might be a throttle position sensor but It depends on the year, an older model would be a switch.

Also looks like you could do with a new one.

My 83 burb has that item, I think if you follow the vacuume lines one should go to the vac pump and the other to the trans. There is a thread on this fourm about calibrating the shift pattern with that "thing".

Looks to be a vacuum regulator valve (VRV), used only on models with the TH400 three speed automatic. It controls the way the transmission shifts with relation to throttle position. As noted above, one line connects to the vacuum system, the other to the vacuum modulator on the transmission.

If your trans works right don't touch it...
