How can I get rid of the ugly dirt-stained rubberized undercoationg thats on my truck?

Power washer can't even touch it and it really looks like crap.

Can i just spray black spray paint over it?

Here's a pic:

Yeah, you can just spray some blk paint over it, but you will have to do it every year. Or you can spend the money and get some por-15 it bonds to anything and wont come off. Remember that when you apply it though it also does not come off your skin for about 2 weeks. Don't ask how I know.

It's not that the coating needs to be re-done, but more that it holds on to dirt and wont let go...no matter how hard I scrub.

Flat black paint?

Flat black paint?

Flat black or gloss will work fine, Its more of a personal preference then anything else.

And it will stick to that rubber coating alright?

Anything under there that I should avoid spraying? Like that bar code sticker on the frame?

Like driveshaft, zerk lube fittings, suspension rupper joints and exhaust.

That bar code sticker on my frame also has the VIN number. Too easy for someone to see, write down take to the parts counter and order a keyless entry. I covered mine with rustproofing.

The only thing I would avoid spraying underneath would be electrical connections and be carefull not get overspray on your paint. Spray it on a calm day or in your garage. And yes regular black paint will stick to the ruberized coating fine but if you are concerned they make rubber specific blk paint.

I just use spray foam tire cleaner. I spray the frame and wheel wells and i wipe the wheel wells off and just leave it on the frame. You may want to try this before painting.

I prefer Satin black or semi gloss for under carriage paint.

Wesley's Bleach Wite works for me to help remove the dirt. To make mine more black, I just bought regular old Rust-o-leum flat black.

Spray the frame rails down with a good degreaser and let it sit for a bit. Re-spray and aggitate with a brush. Rinse off with a hose. Get some Adams Undercarrage spray and spray it on.

No need to worry about anything, just paint away (everything black). Oh and I never do any thing more then hose off the underneath so I paint everything that is in the way of black.... dirt, grease, whatever...

I just use rustoleum flat black. seems to last long and power washes fairly clean. It just takes me some time to do because i seem to be some what of a perfectionist and mask off everything so that the frame is the only thing getting the flat black spray paint

X2 on the 3M Undercoating. Use the stuff almost everyday. Works great and looks even better. Lasts a good while too, just depends how many stones you throw and dirt you kick up, may need to be gone over every year or so.

I ended up going to the local ACE Hardware, but I followed your advice and got the satin black as opposed to the flat black I was thinking of.

It really makes it look brand new. Not like paint at all...I love the look!
