: Oil Leak Passenger Rear of motor - turbo?

Well, after hours of cleaning the underside of the engine & surroundings to try & locate an oil leak, here's what I found.

What I thought was possibly a rear main leaking, turned out to be an obvious trail of oil draining down from the upper rear of the engine as far as I can see on the passenger side.

Is this absolutely an oil supply on the turbo or are there other possibilities?

If it's a turbo line, is this something that I can do myself reasonably easily or we talking all day or more?

One other intersting point about the oil leak... I can leave it idleing for 45min and it won't leak. It only seems to do it after you've been driving. Seems like the turbo leaking down when you park. The size of the oil leak is the same no matter how long you park it or how far you drive it.

Well... I'm going to try one more thing that I heard... seems kinda silly, but we'll see. This truck came with a K&N filter. I'm not sure why, but my dealer said that they've had trucks quit leaking oil when the filter was changed. Anyone ever heard of this? I can't think of why it would impact things.

Either way, I'm not a big fan of K&N on vehicles that see a good bit of dirt & dust as this one will. So I'm off to try and match a good filter to the unit and see.

In my opinion I would say it sounds like the oil return line from the turbo. It bolts in at the back of the block at the back of the turbo. Its not easy to get to.

Thanks for the input 79. Unfortunately, I tend to agree that it's tied into the oil lines back there. I just don't know that I have the time to tear it down as it'll probably take me twice as long as the dealer... so I may just have to take it in.

Did you ever figure this out? My truck leaks oil after driving, but not idling.
