just wondering

chang my spin on every 10k, flush the trans every 25k. i used to tow heavy fairly often so it was a must. light duty towing could probably get away with 30-40k on the flush. i'd still change the spin on every 10 k though. peace of mind, at least for me....

follow the allison guide for a minimum at least. if you wanna change it more often, its your dollar....

x2,

Like whitetrash said, its your dollar. I change my spin-on every 10 or 12k, change fluid every 25k. Mine only see's light towing but she's a city kitty, for now, and see's stop and go traffic alot.

guess i will have to change more often,I had it done at the dealer once but figured 20,000 would be safe.

it may be. i figure since the spin on is cheap, it doesnt hurt to change it more often.

I changed the spin on filter at 25k and just had the tranny serviced at 54k. The tech said the pan had quite a bit of sludge/small debris and that i should do it more often since i tow all the time.

I change the alli filter at every oil change, every 5,000 miles.

x2 on the filter change, I change mine at every oil change, or less, very cheap preventative maint. cost and piece of mind. Good idea to change fluid at the recommended mileage or less...

When you guys change the filter, what trans fluid do you put in? Do you buy at a Chevy dealer?

My '03 is Dex III but I've switched to synthetic Transynd...made by Castrol for Allison. Alternatively, you can go with Mobil 1 Delvac ATF or Amsoil Torque Drive which are also good ATF synthetics. Your transfer case will also love the ATF synthetic.

Transynd is from your Allison dealership. You can also buy Transynd, Amsoil or Mobil 1 Delvac from the vendors on this site.

Your '06 calls for DEX 6. Should be able to find it at a local Autozone or one of 'em. I used Castrol brand but would have used any premium brand. About $6/qt.
