Have a 2003 Duramax, have Superchip installed and was changing from high performance to towing and during programming, error message (035) occured. Now truck won't start. Won't turn over, have lights and all other. Anyone have any suggestions? Have tried disconnecting battery cables, and so far no luck

ok, reconnect cables, make sure all accessories are turned off including the radio, and go through the programming steps again.
You might have to do this a few times, it may work, it may not. If not you might have to call superchips and see if they have a solution for you.

had this happen to me before, no big deal, disconnect batterie cables for 15- 20 minutes, reconnect and you should be good to go. Go ahead and reinstall programing. Make sure that everything is turned off.

I have an 03' and super chip did the same thing to my truck. Superchips told me to send in my trucks computer and the programer. No way I said, I had to have the truck re-flashed by my local dealer. Truck ran perfect after the re-flash. I got rid of the Superchip and went with the six gun no problems since.

jjohn23883,
What did you tell the dealer? did it cost much for the reboot?

Same thing happened to me with a Superchips POS programmer.

That happened to me with a Hypertech. The dealer was not able to reflash it. they told me that they have to replace the computer for $1100!!?? SO i pulled the truck out of the dealer and took of the PCM and sent it to Hypertech alson with the programer.

That happened to me with a Hypertech.

Ditto,:exactly: Dealer sent a tow truck to my house, told me the computer died and replaced it under warrentie, and I payed dumb about it and never mentioned I even had a hypertech programmer..
I then sent the Hypertech back.. I dont mess with programmers or chips anymore... The little gain you get for possibly getting stranded somewhere just isnt worth it to me.

The computers in our trucks are real sensitive to voltage draws when re-flashing the ECM with any type of tuner. Make sure that the daytime running lights are not on, and turn everything possible off, including the dome light. Follow the directions closely and pull the fuses for the On Star and anything else as directed by the instructions. If you do run into a problem disconnect both batteries and touch the positive cable to the negative cable for a couple minutes. This will completely drain the system and the truck will normally restart.

I blew the Wiper/lighter fuse with the Quad. I call Quad and they told me to check the fuse and guess what it was blown. I had power to the truck but not the computer when I was wanting to up the HP one day. All fine and dandy now.

I am a GM tech and very familiar with programming, I believe it is the tuners themselves that are not as forgiving when it comes to programming. With a Tech 2 you can hardly get it to screw up programming if you tried. Nearly idiot proof. I have had issues programming two tuners, both tuners were replaced and fixed the issue (Bullydog and Superchip) I guess that is what you get for $2500 Tech2 VS. $300 programmer...

I had the same thing happen to my 2003 HD gasser with a Hypertech. Had to send the CPU and programmer to Hypertech to reflash both. Plus I ride a bicycle to work for 3 days while waiting on it to come back. Lucky for me I was only about 5 miles from work at the time.
I got it fixed and traded that truck for my 04.5 LLY D/A.

I was told the same thing about the PCM in my Cougar. At first, I always reflashed the PCM with the car being jumped by my truck, but then I was tole they're not as sensitive as I was led to believe, an in the event of a bad flash, the computer could USUALLY be recovered with the programmer.
If they're so sensitive, how was the tech able to reflash the ECM in my truck (with a Tech2) with the radio on and the door open?

Is it possible to create similar problems using a Predator to just read codes?
Thanks

Whoa there Eddie, chips not worth it ???
I grant you I hate trouble, and have had a little (blown tranny), but not worth the "little gain" you say. ???? I'm gaining well over 200 hp.
It's true though, we do have to put up with a few setbacks at times.

Very, very unlikely. Reading/resetting codes is a totally different kind of communication. Writing to the computer is sensitive, reading it is not.

Thanks McRat. Very few people here could help me out if I mess things up so better be extra careful........:thumb:

I have a question...My ecm will not even communicate with a tech2. It barely reads codes. I took everything off and it still don't let me upgrade the ecm with a tech 2. We have treid writing to the ecm and no luck with the tech 2. How can I explain this to the dealership with out getting charged? My service 4wd light just came on...can I tell them to hook it up to a tech 2 to find the problem and let them find that they can't communicate with the ecm and let them replace it?

Check the ground strap under driverside of truck. My 4wd light was on, and didn't work cause of this. Cleaned the conection and retighted it. Perfect no problems since.
