Hi,
I know this is post is related to an RV but I figured you guys could help me out…
I was going to replace my 5th wheel tires with the same make (Goodyear Wrangler HT). Told the dealer what I wanted but the mounted the Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor instead. He said they would give me them at the same cost as the HT. My question is putting on an on/off road all terrain tire will make huge difference? My thought would be no, anyone have any suggestions and or comments?
Thanks

A trailer should only have trailer tires only is what my understanding is...but if that is not a worry(or true..lol) than it should be ok...

the tread doesn't really matter. But a trailer tire does have a different casing. It is designed different. A trailer tire see's different load forces than a car/truck tire. They are also made from a different compound to resist U.V. damage.

Personally, I dislike trailer tires. On my toyhauler I put on BFG AT/TA/KO's. Even though trailer tires have high load capacity ratings, they seem "fragile" to me and prone to tread separation.

The only caution is to make sure what ever tire goes on there has the load capacity to support the trailer. Then since they're a "real tire", especially a truck tire, they should hold up much better because they're built tougher.

Unless you travel a lot, the tires tend to grow old (~5-6 year life) before running out of tread. Oh yeah, I guess trailer tires are suppose to hold up longer but I think I want new ones after 5-6 years anyway. Either ones should be off the ground if they sit for long periods of time.

Sorry, I have no experience with the Goodyear Wranglers.
