Hey guys, I need a tool box for my truck. I currently have a stanley plastic one that i take in and out but am getting sick of it. I have always had a tool box in my other trucks but they were long box's. the reason i havent bought one yet is i load my dirt bike in the back almost every weekend and am not sure if i will be able to do that with a box in the front. Does any one have any suggestions or pics of your truck with a bike in the back with a tool box.

It's not a problem with a shortbox with a standard size toolbox in the back. You just can't put the tailgate up. I always use four straps on my bikes. You can also purchase a wheel holder and mount it to the bottom of your tool box. That is the best way to do it, if the front wheel can't move the straps will not ever loosen up.

How much space do you need? Would one of those side boxes that goes over the wheel well would work for you.

Personal preferance I guess, I don't like the way the side boxes look and would not want one on my truck. I prefer the low profile tool box you don't see untill you walk up to the truck and like stated above there is still plenty of room for your bike behind it.

i agree..you will just have to be okay with leaving the tailgate down..

www.rki-us.com (http://www.rki-us.com) just came out with a low profile side box. Check them out. Other companies may have low profile side boxes, too, but this is the only one I've seen.


If you don't like that look at a wheelwell box. I know Dee Zee and Weatherguard make some. Another name for this box is a "porkchop" box. This style might actually be the one you like best. http://deezee.com/ and http://weatherguard.com/

Another cool box is the drawer box. You mount this at the back corner of the bed. It won't hold jumper cables and stuff but it is great for organizing tools. http://www.genevaproducts.com/

i fit my bike in the back with no problem. just cant close the tailgate. i too have alwasy had long boxed trucks too and was worried about the same thing when i put the toolbox in my shortbed

I guess I should have added that, tuffy products makes it. Look on their site, they have lots of great products.

Buy an XR 50. That should fit w/ tool box no problem.

im going to look at those tuffy products. that is a pretty slick system.
I love the look of a front tool box across the rails, but im not to thrilled about leaving the tailgate down.
