I run the Dunlop Rover RVXT's in that size. I like the look, but the tire is shit. 22,000 miles and I'm having to replace them. No real noticeable gain in fuel economy.

glad i read this post, was getting ready to buy the dunlops. every other 255 i've seen is a real aggressive mud tread. guess i'll go back to 265's.

yeah but they be the same size as a 305/75/16 but not near as wide wich is less road friction which is more mpg right?

I like the Cooper ST. I've had them on three trucks now, with very good wear. I rotate religiously. As I have commented before, they are a good comprimise between and A/T and M/T. I'm running 235/85/16, but would also like to move up to 255s.

I read a lot on the various tires in 255/85. The dunlops have left a bad taste with a lot of folks. Can't remember any positive comments.

The cooper ST's were my 2nd choice, but wear issues when towing seem to be common. Tread life of about 30k seems to be about the normal range.

The Toyo M55's are just a bit more agressive than an AT tire, but much less than an MT. They have been real good in snow. Mud season is around the corner, so I'll see about that soon enough. Tread life seems to be in the 40-50k range with some going 70k. Given the cost of the tires, if they go 42k they will be equal to the cost of the last set of dirt cheap crapYear's that only went 22k till bald. So, any distance over 42K and the expensive tires are saving money! Plus they seem to have given me an increase of about 1mpg. Not that that's important with diesel down around $4 a gal....

Anyone running the Interco truxus 255s? They're a mud tire with siped lugs. How's the noise and wear factor with these?
