Yes and yes. It's a great tranny.

Yes and NO. It will not bolt up to the 4 speed bellhousing. Bolt pattern is very different. You would need to get a bellhousing from a 92-94 6.5 and convert to a hydraulic clutch if you don't have one already. Pretty simple and can be done with all factory parts.;)

If I had a NV4500 what rear end would you recomend pairing with it to run with a 6.2L?

I would run it with 4.10 on a n.a. engine and 32 to 33 inch tires, or 3.73 with a turbo for a little better fuel economy.;)

I got lucky the sticker from the dealer is still in the jockey box. I have 3.42 gears. With the tires I have and the 4spd it looks like I'll be running about 2600 rpm at 65 mph.

Is .75:1 the OD ratio in the NV4500?

Yes the ratio is about .75. If you are looking for better cruising rpms you should consider a US Gear overdrive unit. Assuming that you have 4WD, this unit goes between trans and transfercase and gives you the ability to split every gear. This is a really cool unit. I have installed several and they were very durable, which is more than I can say for the gear venders.:) :grd:

It depends on how much you could get a nvg 4500 and the rest of stuff. You could also check into advanced adapters' ranger overdrive. It goes in between transmission and bellhousing and also allows you to split every gear plus 20 pecent overdrive.:)

If I've got the patience to look around for a while I might get lucky and find an entire pickup for about $500, but it's got to be 2wd. That could be tough.
