Would like to get a new brake controller, but don't know which one works well. My current one is a cheep Rease that came from Walmat for about $30.00 and it is very touchy. Any ideas would be great.
Thanks

I second the Tekonsha Prodigy, do a search and you will see a majority agree. Cost about $125-150.

I am a BrakeSmart fan. Prodigy is OK, but the BrakeSmart is just a whole step nicer.

Currently using a Prodigy, should have gotten a Jordan and will be upgrading to a BrakeSmart in the spring. www.brakesmart.net (http://www.brakesmart.net)

Thanks Max--guess I had a brain cramp on that one!

I second, third, fourth, whatever....Prodigy.

Install's in 20 minutes tops, plug and play!

Works when backing up also!

Easy to set, maintains its setting.

I also have the Prodigy.

Just so we aren't comparing apples and oranges here, and correct me if I'm wrong, the Prodigy is proportional inertia system, electrically controlled, while the BrakeSmart is a proportional hydraulic system, that must be connected to the trucks hydraulic braking system.

That is correct. The BrakeSmart's pressure sensor is easy to install. I know it scares a lot of people, but it shouldn't. The instructions are perfect with lots of pictures.

The biggest setback is the the price. It slowed me down too. However, I am very, very glad I took the plunge. Sometimes you do get what you pay for.

brakesmart for sure. prodigy would be third, behind the jordon ultima. the thing I do nto liek about the jordon is the mechanical link to the brake pedal, not proportional braking at all. brakesmart will also due elel over hydraulic, air , etc. and , EGT and boost module out during the summer.

everyone has a prodigy because they have been out forever, old technology. not knocking it but sensor tehcnology cannot be beaten for reliability. yeah, there is a difference in price, what is the ultimate in safety and reliability worth after you pay $40K for a truck
