ok, went to get in my truck tonight, and the unlock on the factory keyless entry wont work, but the lock does....could this be a battery??? i'll try prying it open in the morning to check it out.....if not battery, is it hard to get a new one???

One of my fobs, probably the one that's been used the most, #1, seems to be harder to get it to unlock the last few months. It takes several very determined attempts to get it to unlock. Like yours, lock seems normal. I thought maybe it was the battery (CR2032) and changed it. No difference for me. I suspect the button isn't making as good contact as it did originally.

It'll probably get worst or better by itself, or maybe stay the same. But I've got 3 other fobs:D so I'm not worried.

I got my extra fobs at the dealer a few years ago, about $30-something dollars each then. They're also available on Ebay, etc. Match up the GM number on the back (the last digit is different for a #1 fob and a #2 fob). The only difference is whether it has a #1 or #2 on the back . . . it doesn't have anything to do with which driver it's programmed to. In other words, don't panic if all you can find are #1's, just paint other numbers if it matters to you.

Did you try any of the other three fobs to compare it with the one you were using? Please let us know how it turns out...

Actually, I just tried them again and all of them worked fine. Maybe it got better by itself. Maybe my thumb is working better . . . . sorry. (Or maybe the new battery really helped?)

Sorry, I was being lazy about looking up the numbers when I said just the last digit is different. Mine are:
GM 15132197 for a #1 on the back
GM 15132198 for a #2 on the back
Sellers indicate that these numbers are for 2003-2005.

All fobs have to be reprogrammed at the same time. I know the instructions have been posted on DP several times before. When you buy the fobs they often include instructions. Or I'm sure the dealer will do it for some outrageous fee (it takes 5 minutes to understand the instructions and another 5 to do it, even if it takes a couple of tries . . . just sit in the truck and keep the window rolled down so you don't lock yourself out!!)
