How many of you got EGR flow codes when after straight piping?

Edit: Also, for those of you who left the CAT but removed the muffler, hows the sound?

Fed will set EGR codes without turning on the light.

I tried removing the muffler and leaving the cat and noticed nothing. I then put the muffler back on and removed the kitty. Just a little bit more sound, but thats about it. Saw no codes either way. Will leave kitty off to lower egt.

from what I have been reading, most that did a complete exhaust -removing muffler and cat and going with straight pipe and/or muffler got codes, but no SES light. When hooked up to a scanner the codes were there for EGR.

the others that left the stock muffler on with no cat, or cat with new muffler seem to not have codes.

the EGR needs some type of backpressure it seems or it throws everything off on the LLY's

My CA truck throws the light like clockwork when it's straightpiped. With the stock muffler and no cat = no codes.

Need to install my Finger Stick.

so chances are ill get codes but no check engine light? Is there any harm with having the EGR codes sitting in the ECM?

when you get enough of them stored it will eventually trip the SES

So is there no problem with running with these codes? I think im going to staight pipe and as long as the truck runs fine and the check engine light isnt on, ill be happy, maybe ill eventually get around to adding the finger stick.

Also, what is the dealer gonna do if i straight pipe? they arent going to void any warranty are they?

Interesting fact:

The ECM will not run the EGR flow test if the Intake Air Temp is less than 35*. Thus, it will not set codes in cold weather from an open exhaust or blocker plate. However, codes would be set if you unplug the EGR valve.

I have egr unplugged and just the cat on. Honestly, I don't think the truck is any louder, except when you first start it. There is a small amount of resonance in the cab just before 2,000 rpms. I need to get rid of the cat, I want some more sound out of it.
