This is obviously something you need special equipment to do? A mechanic? I've been told that I need to check them, but don't know where to start.

That or a tech 2, dealer can do it for like $80 if you dont want a programmer right now

Yes on the Predator. You can also use it to clear trouble codes and correct for larger tires etc. Four trips to the dealer @ $85. a pop will pay for a Predator. Made sense to me to buy it.

For trouble codes and data scanning, yes, I wouldn't stack them though, unless you have money for a trans. PPE actually measures the pulse width of the injector timing, I dont know if its the same as balance rates, but I love my PPE.
