: LBZ and Bio?

I have an 06 LBZ and found a local station that is selling B11 for $3.33 a gallon. All normal dino stations are $4.09 and up now. Is there anything to be worried about using B11? My dmax is 100% stock. The temps are starting to break and seeing mid to high 40's now.

from what ive read gm approves up to b20,expect some decreased economy and more frequent fuel filter changes,at least when you first start using it

I tried B20 on a few tanks last fall and noticed a 1.3 mpg average drop over my regular weekly commute.

sure would seem worth it when your saving $0.76 per gallon.

Seems like a done deal to me, I only wish that Bio was cheaper here!

i'd kill for anything less than $4 Diesel...

I thought I read in the diesel suppliment manual that they dont reccomend bio over B5? I could be incorrect since I read that over 2 years ago

why would bio cause lower mpg? i thought it would have more lubricant ability causing better mpg

Go ahead and run it B11 isn't a high percentage of biodiesel but it will really help out a lot on the lubricity of the fuel. You shouldn't notice any drop in fuel mileage. You may even see slightly better. I run B100 as much as I can in my LBZ without any problems.

not as much potential energy in biodiesel compared to dino fuel, so in theory you would need to be on the throttle more to make the same power. lubrication has nothing to do with it mileage-wise

The factory will only honor up to B5, but people (me included) run B100. B11 won't be a problem. B100 becomes a problem when you start to see temps below 35*

I called a station that has B99 and they want $5.45 per gallon!!!!!! How the hell do they figure anyone would pay that much when dino is $4.09? Its just crazy!

Probably due to the fact that the base stock (Soy, or other oils) has gone up like diesel due to the ethanol rush and even that is hurting...Plants put on hold due to high feedstock prices. Oh well...
