: Dealer visit, Intermediate shaft

I made a visit to the dealer today to have them take a look at the shaft vibration and a few other items. They said they needed to order a new shaft which will take 4-6 weeks. They told me that this is the only way to fix the problem. I guess I will find out in a couple of months.

I also had them check out a bothersome rattle in my manual tranfer case. It was a plastic on plastic noise that could be stopped by simply holding the shifter but it would come right back. This should be another quick fix...but they said they had to order parts to fix. Whatever they did fixed the rattle so far....lol

Since they were going to have the truck for the afternoon I had them change the oil. I am new to the Orlando area so I figured I would just let the dealer ream me. They told me 59 which I was ok with....but when it came time to pay the bill there was a $3.30 charge for shop supplies. I put the SM on his heels when I questioned the charge....He was sputtering "Well....there was rags, and cleaner....." I about blew up! What a crock of poo. Has anyone else had the shop supplies added to the bill?

I am kind of worried about having this place do the intermediate shaft replacement at this point. I also wonder about their abilities since they ordered a new shifter for no reason.

Sorry about the rant...anyone else getting a new shaft ordered for the dreaded rattle? Also, can anyone tell me a good place to get service done in the Orlando area?

Have them grease the shaft, that will fix it if done right.

The shop supplies charge is pretty normal, but not usually for a LOF

I am tempted to get a second opinion...but I am sure that the next service dept. will notice that I just brought the truck in somewhere else.

3.30 isn't much....but I think it is a pretty lame charge. I wouldn't be so upset if they actually worked on my warranty items and didn't come up with excuses. Just because I bought a 40k truck doesn't mean I am stupid.

whityinfl, do you know what they did to fix the rattle? My dealer told me they couldn't fix it because there isn't a TSB.

I wish I knew...so far it hasn't come back. You might try removing the cover to see if you can find out where the rubbing is coming from. It might just need to be tightened. (The plastic cover)

Good luck....that rattle sucks!
