i have read in the owners manual that you are not to use any fuel additive in the duramax's but would it be ok to use power service fuel additive once in awhile during the winter thanks http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big%20Smile.gif

Oh Boy! You did it now!! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif Did you just open up a can of worms! This is a pretty heavily debated topichttp://www.difflock.com/discus/clipart/znaika.gif (http://www.difflock.com/cgi-bin/discus/board-image-lister.cgi?popup=1#) . Just do a search for additives.

GM issued a bullitin recently permitting additives but a demulsifying type and listed Racor and Stanadyne as examples. Here is where the heavy debate begins between a demulsifier or an emulsifier begins.

I guess decide foir yourself on what's best. I stay away from power service beacuse they double-talk the issue of what type of additive they are. They never say.

Let the carnage begin! http://www.difflock.com/discus/clipart/reallyangry.gif (http://www.difflock.com/cgi-bin/discus/board-image-lister.cgi?popup=1#)Edited by: JohnnyO

There is a current TSB on the usage of fuel additives in the TSB forum ....

Additive policy (http://dieselplace.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=154&PN=1)

Most here have chosen under the advise of the resident expert in the field to emulsify as oppose to de-emulsify ... It is highly recommended that you stay away from any alcohol based or alcohol added additive, fuel system damage may occur ....

Check the TSB forum for other useful info ....
