Looking to add some amber LED lights to my plow for marker lights. Tried the ricer type locations but no luck. Want something weather proof bout the size of a pencil eraser or a bit bigger. Would consider doing a bit of fanagling if I could come up with some amber translucent plastic deals about the size/shape of a thimble to stuff a LED into.
Also would like a few LEDs to string together to add light to my tool box and under hood.
Any ideas were else to look? TIA:)

If you don't mind Ratlover, I'd like to tag a question on this.
I've seen some neat led lights I would like to solder to a switch to indicate that switch is on, but these are something less than 12v rated. What diode or thing do you wire in to allow this to work? Haven't quite got that straight on what to use when.

How dare you hijack my post:mad: JK:D
Most LED's are for less than 12v? Thats something i will have to make sure I look for and might add complication. I'm glad you brought this up http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif

All you have to do to make the resistors work with 12 volts is solder in a resistor with them. The resistance value fot the resistor is going to vary with the voltage and current rating of the LED itself, so there's no one resistor to do it all. LEDtronics was working on a 12 volt LED that had the resistor built in, but last I checked they still weren't ready.

I orderd some stuff from the site MP listed. They had a few items with resistors built in I noticed. Everything I ordered said it would work for 12v

SuperBrightLEDs is good to deal with. LEDTRonics is fine too, but I have found them to be a bit pricy in comparison.

I'll agree with Ledtronics being pricy. One note to watch out for, the leads on most LED's and resistors are not copper and they will rust. Use silicone to save yourself lots of headaches later!

Thanks for all the replies
I got all my stuff from superbrightleds quickly and it all looks well built. I got a few strings with 2 LEDs in a little tube thingy spaced 3" apart with 8 or so pods total. Going to stick that under the hood for some illumination too. The were 7$ and nice built and sealed.
Shrink tubing and dielectric tape(work for the electric co. I got some good stuff we use on underground ;) ) are my friends.

I hope you aren't putting an 8' wing on it next.:joke:

I already have onehttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/cool.gif Oh.....I get it now, thats why your jokinghttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/hihi.gif
LED light srtings for under the hood so I can see at night since the general didn give me a hood lighthttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif Also have some of the LED strings for my tool box in the back so I can see back there.
And amber LED's on my plow marker sticks, easier to see, cool factor and the 9.5' hunk of metal will hopefully be easier to see for the yahoos coming at me and they wont freak on me.
Bought me some cool man neons for underneath and some of them spintech hub rimps. Tight dog:phatyo:

These are a little pricey...
