: Best Price on Predator?
cowdoc 01-26-2005, 12:43 PM I have been reading this forum for quite a while now, great source of info:ro)!! I have decided to go ahead and get the Predator. I would like to buy it from one of the supporting vendrs of this site. Without ruffling any feathers, who would you Predator users recommend? Who has the best price? Who has the best service? Don't want to start a war, just want the best value for my money as I am on a tight budget and have to keep the wife happy!!
Thanks!
Goldneye 01-26-2005, 12:59 PM Check with John at DPS he is a supporting member.

cowdoc 02-01-2005, 01:43 PM Thanks,
I ordered mine yesterday from Big Dawg Performance as well. He is a supporting vendor and from the same region that I live in. Plus, he has the best price!!
Can't wait to see (feel) how it improves my performance.

How long did they tell you for shipping?
CStone 02-01-2005, 06:24 PM Let me chime in that I just got mine from Big Dawg as well. Ordered Sunday night and it arrived today. Of COURSE I've already thrown on the 40 HP tune. :) Took it for a quick test drive (I'm @ work) and it shifted funky, flaring between shifts. That should go away, though, I'm sure.
Immediate impressions were that the 40HP predator (LB7) tune is stronger than the 70HP Hypertech tune I had loaded last summer. :)

Got an email today that said it was in route):h . Should get it tomorrow or Thursday!!

The shifting is a little wierd at first. Mine is back to normal after a week of around town not many miles.
BudTX 02-01-2005, 08:50 PM How long did they tell you for shipping?
I ordered mine on a Thursday from Big Dawg, and it was delivered the next afternoon. Big Dawg must have a dealer network, because their shop is in Georgia and I live in Kansas!
BlueDMax 02-02-2005, 12:27 AM DPP will also match prices, they did for me. Also provided good service.
Tranny speed learning: take her up to about 60mph with steady throttle, let off the throttle and put the tranny into 1st gear and let it shift down. Come to a stop put her in Park. After one or two of these cycles shifts are close to normal. Oh, don't do this on the insterstate at commuter time!
skoryaro2 02-07-2005, 04:39 PM You guys were right, Big Dawg had the best advertised price (included shipping) so I ordered it last night (Sunday). I got an email confirming the order but no e-mails today saying it was shipped. Sounds like most of you got yours in about 2 days. I'll just have to sit and wonder for now until it shows up :confuzeld
mcbride 02-08-2005, 02:48 PM Ordered mine from dieselperformanceparts.com - got the best price with no bruises or blood loss. Mark is THE BEST! :ro)

Mark,
Maybe you or any other vendor can answer this question:
When it came time to buy, I checked your wesite as well as many other vendors here for the selling price. As a practice, I keep a mental note of which vendors offer advice and answer questions here and try to first patronize their sites when buying. I've tried to "give everyone a piece of the pie".
The vendor I bought from had the lowest advertised price on their website and I don't believe they are a low overhead dealer, although I may be wrong. Alot of vendors say "to give them a call" and they will beat any price. In my case, the difference was $40 - $60 depending on the vendor and it was much easier to go to the vendor offering the lowest price rather than to call and have to negotiate a deal. I'm sure Predator probably has a MAP policy for their dealers. Why not just offer your lowest price on site? I can see a little difference in price to adjust for overhead, but this difference is substantial.
Please don't take me wrong. I'm not knocking you or anyone else, just trying to understand so that maybe the next time I may go thru the extra trouble if I know where you're coming from.
snowho 02-08-2005, 05:09 PM Some vendors break MAP some don't, but the final decision ultimately is the consumer. I may lose a few sales because I try not to break MAP pricing but that is the price I pay to stay in good standings with the manufacturer. I feel staying in good standings gives me, maybe, a little advantage with warranty and so on. Just my thoughts.

dmaxalliTech 02-08-2005, 05:13 PM ditto Aaron.
Mark Craig 02-09-2005, 02:18 PM skoryaro2,
Basically what Aaron said is the real bottom line. We are distributor direct and have signed or done a hand shake deal with the manufacturers to honor their MAP policies. Because of that we won't voilate that honor code, but it hurts us as we don't get some sales we normally could, hence our pricing policy: http://www.dieselperformanceparts.com/pricing.html
Lots of vendors are currently getting really hammering on because they are non compliant to the MAP policies. Edge has a program as does Predator and AFE where you actually lose discounts if you are the supplying WD to a non compliant retailer. So for us to be able to be competitive we ask you to call us if you feel you have found a better deal, we do not automatically give you the deal if it's with a few of the folks out there as we know they are not authorized retialers, are selling reboxed goods are or used goods in some cases, but for the most part are able to get you the price and you still get us for tech advice, and or warranty issues.
Just a sign of the times in the world we have with such great communication tools etc.

DSTRBD 02-09-2005, 02:51 PM Then, there are alot of vendors who claim to do this and that and are flat out full of sh*t. There are too many vendors in this business who are "used car salesman" and will tell you what you want to hear. "We have done this, we have done that" all BS. When it comes down to it, buy from the guy who makes you feel the most comfortable and is able to answer your questions. Personally, I would want to buy from a guy who is ACTUALLY working with the trucks EVERYDAY. Not just selling product. Just my 2 cents.
BlueDMax 02-09-2005, 05:03 PM Also worked with Mark @ DPP on a Predator and have been happy with the product, price and service. They'll be on my short list for a new 4" exhaust.
Chisuzu 02-09-2005, 06:03 PM Ordered mine today from Mark @ DPP. Called him and was happy with the price and service. Look forward to getting the unit.
moakster 02-09-2005, 06:30 PM Ordered mine from Jonh Kennedy. Didn't question the price which turned out to be fair according to the other posts, as he was glade to answer my questions over e-mail. Took his personal time and effort to answer question from someone who had not even purchased the unit yet. Good customer service in my opinion.
Mark Craig 02-10-2005, 01:20 PM DSTRBD,
Nate,
Boy you got that one right, don't want to name names but it would be fun wouldn't it!!!!!!!
Mark @ DPPI
BigShrimpah 02-10-2005, 01:55 PM got mine for $324 shipped with free overnight air shipping. I can't mention the vendor because they don't support this site, but just google predator programmers and they are near the top.
