I know it's been discussed here, But I forget. When the engine chirps at shut off is it the belt or alternator? Thanks:)

Or is it just an annoyance? red neck 03-15-2008, 03:56 PM doesnt hurt anything my neighbors dodge has done it since 1999 no problems. the hi compression of a diesel engine stops moving quicker than the alt so the belt makes a squeak on the alt pully thats it.
