can anyone help me verify there is no gasket where the oil pump mates up with the bearing block? there was none when I pulled if offand bolth book I have don't show one.

The the guy who i bought it from who rebuilt it used blue rtv silicone, its kind of a scary place to be using silicon in my opinion seeing how if any excess could get squeezed into the oil journals

What size and year of engine are you working on?

Correct, there is no gasket between the oil pump and the rear main bearing cap on a 6.2 engine. Just bolt the pump up. GM Unit Overhaul Manual says, "Torque to 90 newton-meters or 66 ft. lbs."

I'd check the size of the bolt, if it's 10mm (15mm hex head), that torque spec sounds a little high. I'd pull it to 45 ft. lb. and quit while I'm ahead! Again, check the size of the bolt!

GM specifies 65 ft-lb or the range 59 -72 ft-pounds of torque in both 1983 and 1991 factory manuals for the 6.2 diesel. Do what they say.
