: Power Steering
kbstinky 01-25-2005, 11:14 PM Have not seen this discussed anywhere else, so experts let hear it.
On the first day I drove my truck I did not like how "tight" or "stiff" the steering was. Felt like I was driving an Army deuce and a half truck.
Asked the stealer about it and he said it was perfectly normal.
Is there anything that can be done to get it a little "looser". Can it be adjusted??
My 01 Suburban 1500 is great.
dmaxalliTech 01-25-2005, 11:16 PM Lyle, you need to put more fluid in it.
LOL
Not much can be done, but make sure that the susp parts are greased up and not binding at all. Make sure the fluid is full in the p/s and belt is in good shape. Not much more really
kbstinky 01-25-2005, 11:35 PM I knew I came to the right place for answers.
Eric, did you know that every guy likes a "little" but nobody likes a "smart one." ):h :D ):h :D ):h :D ):h :D ):h :D ):h :D ):h :D ):h :D ):h
I have checked the fluid, and the oil, filt, and lube is done 4K.
I was hoping you would have a special "potion" that I could sprikle on the pump and make it a little easier.
Have a great one.
dmaxalliTech 01-26-2005, 08:05 AM Lyle, try some talcum powder on the steering wheel, this will make your hands slip on it and you will think it steers easier as the wheel slips through your hands

I had the same complaint when I first got my truck, after a week I didn't notice it. Is funny though when I get into the wife's Yukon I about spin the steering wheel off the column.
kbstinky 01-26-2005, 11:16 AM Eric,
You have now confirmed what I have grown to beleive, you are a never ending source of information. I guess I am lucky you didn't suggest KY Jelly, but then you were probably using it yourself.
Skor....
I also own an 01 Suburban, and yes when I go from the truck to the Burb, I about spin the stering wheel off.
I wonder why GM made the steering so "hard" on the 3/4 ton trucks?????
Max....
What was my original question??????
What part of OR, I have a brother in law in Coos Bay, and nieces in the Portland area.
