Ok, here is my issue. I have the over head console gauge http://www.socaldiesel.com/Gauge.htm and I want to run the pyro probe and boost tube down the passenger side piller and into the engine compartment. I looked under the dash and have not found a place that I will be able to run this trough.
Here are my questions?
1. Has anyone ran anything through this side of the truck and if so where did you go through.
2. do you know where I could get more of the boost line, because what came with the gauge is not long enough.
3. my EGT gauge is an AutoMeter Phantom II that i got from Diesel Manor, and there is a plug in the wires that goto the Probe. I was wondering if it would be ok to cut them and solder them back together to make them longer because it is not long enough to run the distance of coming down drivers piller to the passenger side exhaust manifold, or would that be a bad thing to do?
Here is a picture of the probe wires.
Thanks,
Craig

I'm sure you can get a longer nylon tubing amount for the boost tube.
You'll hear different on the pyro cutting/splitting wires, but, I've done it before and had NO bad things happen. I just used the same guage wire that was on there (that looks like 22/24 gauge) and spliced it to make it longer. That's just my .02
Make sure there's no resistance in the wire and you should be fine.

I found a 14ft tubing kit from diesel manor and will order that.
Jason, I was thinking the same thing with the wire and it is 22 gauge. Thanks for the quick response.

1) I ran the thermocouple wire out the side panel passenger side, same as all of the door power wiring. I could not find a real good place to go through the firewall either. I also used some of the liquid electrical tape to seal the hole..
2) I bought extra boost line at NAPA. <$15 for a kit
3) Like was said previously, you will hear from different people that you can and can't. I say no, because it will mess up the calibration. It may not matter to you, but if you do splice use the right type of wire. J and K thermo couples are different types of wire that provide different resistances.
Let us know where you end up running the wires.

i ran my wiring through the grommet where the wires from the accelerator pedal run.

Rather than cut any existing grommets going through the firewall, I opted to drill new holes and install new grommets. For the boost tubing, I bought some 7/32 I.D. vacuum hose from the local auto parts store and ran the boost gauge tubing inside of that. I did that for 2 reasons. 1 - I didn't have any grommets small enough to only accommodate the boost gauge tube, and 2 - I liked the armor it provided the entire length of the boost gauge tube.
I did have to study the firewall from both sides for quite a while before I found a suitable place to drill the holes. Because I opted for the BD exhaust manifold and the SD turbo manifold, it made a lot more sense to penetrate the driver's side of the firewall. Fortunately, on the drivers side of my 2006 there was an unused knockout in the plastic under the dash which was close to where I wanted to run everything. I don't know if there is a matching location on the passenger side.

I am kind of skeptical about cutting the wires, I will do it if it is a last resort but I think I will contact AutoMeter and ask if they have a solution to my problem before I start cutting things.
Edohart: I like the thought of running the tube through a vacuum hose that is a good idea.
Thanks for the responces and the ideas on this subject I am glad to be a member and a daily reader of this forum. I have learned so much so far and continue to learn each day.
