Ok...since this week is my college's spring breakand it is going to get up into the 40s and 50s, it is time for me to pull the 6.2 out of my parts truck in order to store it/put in on an engine stand...the engine is still has things like the intake, the heads, valve covers, and some other parts on it...firstly could the intake take the weight of the motor if I put a chain underneath it? i don't think it will, so are there any good places to put in bolts that will hold the chains?? or will i have to remove more parts and then do something different?? thanks for any input!

Seems to me there is a hook on the back of the engine (I think it is near the glow plug controller) and another on the front near the water crossover. Not 100% sure, but I seem to remember seeing them.

one of mine had hooks, the other didn't. i just removed the intake and put bolts through the chain into two intake bolt holes.

***make sure you put good quality washers behind those bolts to keep the chain from coming loose!

I'll have to look for these hooks! but if nothing else i will remove the intake and then put bolts and washers there...are these hooks very big? i don't recall ever seeing anything like that on either one of my 6.2's...but one is an '82 and the other is an '83(this is the one I'm removing) so maybe the hooks are a later thing??

Just pulled mine this weekend. On the front there was a bracket that held the power steering reservoir and the rear I just used the ground stud for the glow plug controller. The stud was on the passenger side head on the coolant crossover plug.
