I just installed a new radio in my truck and now my dash lights don't come on. I checked the fuses that I thought were the dash lights and they look fine. Does anyone know if the radio has anything to do with the dash lights or can think of another fuse somewhere that could be blown?

Please don't take this as a smart A$$ remarkBut did you accidently turn the dimmer switch to off postition while doing install. Might look at this because I had the same problem right after I bought my truck and was looking for fuses too. I just couldn't figure out why radio worked and odmeter worked but no lights I guess I dimmed the lights to off and didn't realize it. Ok now everyone laugh

Just in the radio or all the dash lights? One time I jumped in my truck and some how hit the dial for the brightness ajustment and turned it all the way down. So I didn't have any dash lights. I thought great, now what? It might be wishful thinking but maybe thats your problem...?

Did you check your Dash Lights Dimmer Switch?
PARK LPS Fuse 30A, (Fuse Block-Underhood) supplies power to Headlamp Dimmer Switch
Power from the dimmer goes through ILLUM Fuse 10A, (Fuse Block-Left I/P), to the Dash Illumination Lamps.
After trying several things I did think about the dimmer switch and it is not that. It is the lights on the dash, like the speedo, tack, gauges, etc. The dome light, under the hood light, head lights etc.. all work fine. It is just the dash instrumentation lighting that is not working. I did find a couple of fuses that were bad but after replacing them there are still not lights. I guess what I will have to do is pull every single fuse and look at them.

Fuses don't blow for no reason. Check to make sure everything is wired correctly and figure out why the fuse blew.

One time on my 2000 I swapped a buddies aftermarket stereo in to make sure it worked for him. Turned out the ground wasn't in the plug far enough. The radio still worked because it grounded through the amp wires, but when the headlights came on it fried part of the light switch so no dash lights at all. I had to replace the switch. I would suggest checking the ground wire on the stereo plug and make sure it matches up and is good and tight. We thought that one was but it was loose just out a little bit...

Aftermarket radio? Pull the radio and disconnect the harness. Then see if you dash lights work again. If so, I'd check your wiring harness from the new radio and make sure you connected it's dimmer lead to the correct lead from the factory harness/adaptor harness.

I just left my dimmer lead taped off... Prefer the way it is for brightness.
