Tired of paying higher prices at GM for a oil change & would like to know what type of container you put the oil in & where do you dispose of it.Thanks

I use one of those 15 quart drain pans that seals up and take it to the recycle center at the trash dump. Luckly they have an oil tank that I can pour it into free of charge.

We have used oil heaters up here that burn waste oil and convert it to heat for a shop or something. They're actually quite efficient and the oil goes to good use keeping us warm...

I usually put it in the containers that it comes in after the drip pan is full. That pretty much tells me how many quarts the motor has eaten since the last change.

Get a Fumoto valve: http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h150/shawnwithers/F106N-2T.jpg and drain your oil directly into containers (milk jug, detergent bottle, etc). Then, take them to a parts store and dump the oil into their container.

Fumoto valve, 15 qt drain pan,

drain, change filter, add oil.

put old oil in the gallon jugs and take to nearest oil change place, checker-kragen, autozone, pep-boys and let them have the whole thing, I get rid of the bottle and the oil. Unless I'm changing in Wyoming, then my friend has an oil heater and likes the old oil.

I bought a couple of quart size oil's a couple of years ago, use and put the two quarts left from the gallon jug about every other oil change.

Don't know what area you live in but many auto parts stores like Auto Zone, Advanced Auto Parts, etc. will take drain oil. Also Walmart and Kmart did at one time. Your city or county might have a recycle center that takes waste oil. Check with a nearby service station too. I used to take mine to the Shell down the block. They just told me to pour it into their big tank. They get paid by recyclers so the more the better. Just make sure you don't contaminate it with brake fluid or anti-freeze, they don't like that.
Amsoil oil filters have quite a good reputation on DP. Also ACDelco, NAPA Gold, and most anything except Fram. I have been using Rotella full synthetic 5W-40 for 10 years with no complaints. Just make sure whatever you use has the correct service rating for your particular year, make and model called for in your service manual.

I use the following container. It is actually a mop bucket... but works extremely well.

http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=39130-1738-20000MPQ&lpage=none

It has rollers making it easy to roll under and out-from-under the truck. It fits under my stock height 2008 and it holds 5 gallons. The bucket has a decent pour spout allowing you to dump the waste oil into a capped container (via funnel) for recycling. I use the empty cat litter containers which hold 3 gallons a piece. Where I live the city will pick up (from your home) used oil, filters, and other household hazardous waste the next day if you schedule a pickup before 11:59PM. Great service from the city.... they recycle all of the used oil.

I use a section of old garden hose.

NAPA will work. I purchased my filters from some of our supporting vendors. OEM, WIX, Baldwin and Allison are among the more popular brands of filter. I suggest that you avoid Fram.

Me too, but they won't take the used filters. What do you do with the filters?

Drain my oil into a 5 gallon container and take it to Autozone or whomever takes it . Local Valvoline oil change does not take it. The filter, I let it drain as long as I can and put it into the garbage. The new oil containers are put into the regular garbage because the local recyclers in Cincinnati do not take the mt oil bottles. Doesn't make any sense...
