I saw some filter magnents for sale on ebay, you just put it on the bottom of your oil filter and it is supposed to collect small metal particales. does anyone out there use one and is one brand better than the other?

I think the company name is filtermag. Try that on the web. They are a little pricey, but they do look like they work! There are two of them and they sort of clamp onto the filter.

I use a samarium cobalt magnet the size of my thumb on one of my remote filters. Someone on here mentioned putting a couple of hard drive magnets INSIDE a bypass filter. I thought that was a great idea. I think the magnet idea is good as long as they are rare earth magnets (powerful) and not common ones like Indox or Alnico.

Would be nice for someone who has a filtermag to have a photo of a filter cut open to see how good they are...
