: V1 to V2 "upgrade" question

I'm finally getting around to messing with the V2 that a buddy of mine purchased, he's not really the computer type, so I'm kind of in charge of messing with it.

Anyway, currently I have my truck and his truck licensed on my V1 cable. I want to start using the V2, but it was not purchased as an upgrade for my V1, and it tells me that the interface can't be upgraded. It either already has been upgraded, or is not an upgradeable interface.

Basically, I would like to get the "used" licenses from my V1 to the V2 and just use the V2 with the option of using the V1 on the two trucks already licensed on there.. Is there something that I am missing, or do I not have the right stuff??

Like I said, I didn't buy the V2, my buddy did a while back, so it wasn't purchased as an upgrade, but I would basically like to use it as one.

I can't seem to access the EFILive website right now, so I couln't seek out any info there, so any help would be appreciated

Thanks

You can only transfer licenses when you upgrade cables. You can't transfer licenses from any unit to another unless it is an upgrade. You will have to relicense the trucks on the V2 to use it to load tunes. You can still use the V2 for scanning and such, but just not flashing to the trucks with out licensing to them.

I think the other thing you need to keep in perspective is the upgrade process limits the functionality of the V1 hardware. Effectively, if you were to move your V1 licenses to your buddies V2, your V1 will retain the features and licenses you currently have, but you can never expand on it (ie. you could never purchase an additional license).

KB is right, it's a new unit, so each vehicle to be tuned will need to be licensed.

Cheers

It's probably not as much of an issue as I had first thought. The main reason I wanted to start using the V2 was so we didn't have decide which truck to log(same class, same event).. So the V1 and V2 will both be around both trucks most of the time anyway...

thanks again for the replies
