My buddies 04 LB7 with a predator set on 85 will hold third gear and not want to shift up to 4th (it will eventually but it hesitates, any ideas)? No problems with other gears shifting. His truck is straight piped, 285 bfg m/t, s & b intake. Oh yeah it has been limped a few times.

Well the only reason I say that is I have a predator programmer also and I was running for about 4 months. I put 20k on the truck and never change the filter. It was so backed up it wouldnt even run correct. When it was supposed to shift from 3-4 it sounded like it was bouncing off the rev limit because of the lack of fuel. or atleast thats what I thought. I thought it was the tranny slipping. I never realized to change the filter. So to make a long story short I changed the filter the next day and Holy F.... my freakin truck was a rocket ship.Thats way my problem.... Not sure if it will help u but it fixed my problem 25k ago... its been good ever since.

I've had the same problem and I know its not the fuel filter. I change it ever 10,000 miles on the dot. Its done it from day one. Mine doesn't do it all the time, only a few times here and there. Mine will also do it on the 65hp setting and the 85hp. It doesn't do it on the 40hp setting.

he bought the truck at 46,000 miles and now has 72,000 miles on it and has never changed the filter. So I hope for his wallet it is the fuel filter

Change the fuel filter, it does effect the shifts in your tranny...believe it or not..I keep a spare also...:D

That is the transmission not the fuel filter. The Allison learns youre driving style and adjusts to it...and I assume ur not always johnny on the throttle at 4 bucks a gallon. The procedure to reset is go 55 and shift down into low 1 and just let the truck slow down and roll to a stop on its own without touching the brakes and that "resets" the tranny it will start to relearn ur style at that point so reset it and stomp on it thats what I do b4 spanking a rice burner...LOL
