Hello, I am starting to leak fuel from around the fuel filter primer. I have a kennedy lift pump, thats why its leaking fuel instead of sucking air and leaving me stranded. I checked the dealer and they say you can only get the whole filter head for around $400- $500. Can you rebuild them or reseal them with new o-rings? Has anyone done this yet?
Thanks, Bill

I thought I read on here somewhere where some guys have rebuilt them, but couldn't find it just now. Try searching over in the fuel system forum, or in here on "loss of prime" threads.
I would think you could find a take off somewhere. Check out the vendors on the site.
Sure it's not just the bleed screw?

Yep, I'm positive it's not the bleed screw. I have cleaned it of with brake clean and compressed air and can watch it leak from the primer.

good time to buy the nictane fuel filter set up i really think i screwed up when my primer pump went bad (and they don't start after a fuel filter change without it) the junk yard wanted only $100 less than new and thats the price of the superior designed nictane set up

Check these posts out for replacement or oiling of the seals. They do leak. I have also put a 1" rubber band around the top of the primer and case using a piece cut from a bicycle tube.

Check out this shortcut to Frank Blums "garage" for internal pictures of the filter housing. He's the one who replaced the o-ring inside the primer if I remember right. ;)

I had to replace the o-ring inside the primer of mine last weekend. An hour of cleaning all over to narrow down the leak to the filter housing, another 1/2 hour to narrow down the location on the housing (had to rule out the bleeder screw o-ring), 5 minutes to take apart the primer assembly, 15 minute trip to the hardware store to find a 69 cent o-ring, and less than one minute to put the assembly back together.
Understand, this was a learning experience for me, as I had never had my primer assembly apart before. All in all, less than two hours of time and 75 cents with tax. Sure beat paying for a hundreds for a new housing assembly!
