I really need to get a tranny upgrade, been thinking about SC III. May go with this new SC IV kit; if I can come up with the extra cash. Sure is a lot of money to spend.
My question is with these tranny upgrades are you guys seeing significantly better times/performance(sotp meter?) Or is it really just the same but only a more durable tranny?
I mean I have lots of plans for my duramax, just curious if the tranny upgrade will make me any faster or make me FEEL any faster.
Thanks to all.
Also you guys that are running Suncoast kits, what fluid are you using?

Yes, the transmission will make a difference all the way around. It'll let you get more power to the ground and depending on the box (those that can be ran on a stock transmission) it'll knock a couple tenths of your ET.
Do as much as you can, especially if you're planning big power. It's just easier and cheaper in the long run.

I can promise you will feel the difference. There is no doubt. Its also a durability thing too though. Lots of options on the horizon....
As for fluid, I have put everything in from Transynd, Mobil 1, Dino, you name it. I just did my L IV and filled it with Schaeffers 204s. Half the cost as Transynd and I have found that it runs cooler as compared to the Transynd.

very true on the in expensive fluid, but when spending 3500 on a trans, fluid is cheap, regardless how much it costs. And I always include the fluid in my prices... (3500 for a III, and 4200 for a IV)

i found out expensive is not always better. me and 2 buddies from high school all the 93 full size chevys when we were jrs. we all got out trucks at the same time and they all had about 20,000 - 30,000 on them. one of them ran mobil 1 full syn 5w-30 in his, the other vavoline full syn 5w-30 in his. i ran reg penzoil 5w-30 in mine. all 3 trucks saw about the same amount of abuse and care. we were best friends so pretty much when one went muddin the other 2 went also. both their trucks were buring oil and smoking at 120,000 my truck had 186,000 when i traded it off and didnt burn a drop of oil even then. and if i was to say truthfully. i changed my oil every 4000 miles and i know they usually never let theirs get over 3500 in between changes. some people will say well its the difference in abuse and care or maybe fuel. but all the fators that could really affect these results were pretty much the same. but i must say, i enjoyed my $10 oil change opposed to their $28 one.
