Anyone else having as much fun as me trying to find the right replacement door mirror glass? I've got a '96 C3500 extended cab long box dually with power mirrors. They are factory mirrors and appear to be pretty standard.

Yet, the parts stores have like 15 different kinds. Some of them appear to be obviously incorrect, however, there are typically no pictures or a good description mentioned. Some of them have dimensions, but the dimensions I get when I measure do not quite seem to match any parts. There are a couple sizes that it "could" be, but I want to try and avoid ordering the wrong part.

My mirrors might be the "sail" style. The main housing is black and molds into the front corner of the window. The glass is in the shape of a parallelogram, rectangular in overall shape but the ends are slanted in the same direction.

If the dealer can get the part number from your VIN and/or truck info, but can't
actually get it for you, try GM Parts Direct. They seem to have everything GM ever made.

I suggest you go to a Glass shop in your area that does auto glass. They should be able to match up the replacement to the type of mirror you have with a catalog book that has all the dimensions and a picture of the outline of the mirror.

I agree with glassman, a few friends of mine have broken mirrors in the past and got them replaced at the glass shop for way cheaper than through any retail store.
