Hi All
I am having a hard time figuring out exactly which block and year motor i have. I bought it from a guy who told me it was a replacement engine for a 97. At the time i did not know much about the 6.5's. I am learing much more that i thought i would need to...lol
It has the single thermostat on it which led me to believe it was pre 97. the Julian date is J108 which leads me to believe the block was cast in oct 10 1998. the number cast in the driver side rear flange is 1255506 which tells me it is a 506 block..am i correct so far? there is a hand stamped number which appears to be a date 12-2003 stamped on the top passenger side of the block inside of the head. Dont know what this date may be reffering to...maybe a rebuild..? any ideas or clarfication? how would i know if it is a L56 or L65 motor? I am swapping this into a 1980 Scout II and trying to match parts ECM's and wiring harness'es is killing me...

A scoutII? I'd like to see it under power.

Egr is on/through the intake manifold.
Do you have the donor vehicle VIN? that would make it easy
ECM? you can figure it out by the series numbers and prom ID
