I just read a post by McRat on another forum re: the TTS Tow and he stated that it is "transparent". Can someone tell me what that means? Does it mean that it would not be detected at the dealer?

I do not know if the dealer can "see it". You'd have to ask someone with a Tech II.

BUT, if you think the dealer is going to reflash the truck, you absolutely should remove it. It might lock up the PCM, or show an error when they try to reprogram it.

By transparent, I meant that if you got in a TTS Tow equipped truck and drove it, you would not notice any bad behavior. No barking, no twitchy throttle, no funny shifts. It feels like the stock tune just faster. That is not true of many tuners.

What I did was to buy a stock PCM from TTS so I could swap it out before going to the dealer. It takes 5 minutes or less and requires no tools. Plus it allows me to test other tuners with a "clean" PCM.

I did take the truck to the dealer twice with the TTS tune in it. They didn't say anything, but I don't think they scanned it.

Thanks McRat:

You've really been a lot of help. I have a new Dmax on order...my first and am looking at maybe adding just a bit for towing, but don't want to jeapordize the warranty. Not interested in all the full blown modifications like the younger fella's here.....shoot, I wouldn't know what to do with it if I had it. ):h Anyway, thanks for all that your doing here....your posts are easy to understand and it sounds like you approach your research with a practical mind and no bias unless it's well earned. That means a lot to us guys who don't know a lot about these new technologies and are looking for someone to rely on.

Keep up the good work.....it's appreaciated.
